Figment.com is a new website that is aimed at teens. It is marketed as the newest literary based social networking sites. Users are encouraged to write and post original fiction as well as review and comment on other author’s works. More information about Figment.com can be found in this NYT article.
As an aspiring YA writer I signed up. It may give me some insight into what the current trends in YA fiction are and what my target demographic may enjoy. I don’t know if I’ll post there quite yet. If I do, it’d probably be some throw away fiction. Some of the times I write that I’m not seeking to publish. I feel a little too old to be there. I don’t know if the site’s aimed at young writers looking to share their work or for writers of YA fiction of all ages looking to share their work. I guess time will tell.
